Study shows IF doesn’t promote weight loss

RD Natalie Allen weighs in on study’s findings.

November 19, 2020 by Strategic Communication

Intermittent Fasting, or IF, is a popular diet plan where individuals eat only during specified periods of time per day.

A recent study, published in JAMA Internal Medicine concluded intermittent fasting does not promote weight loss in individuals considered clinically overweight or obese. Its findings was also inconclusive regarding the practice’s potential for weight loss or health benefits.

Natalie Allen, a registered dietitian and clinical assistant professor of biomedical sciences at Missouri State University, addresses the study and IF on VeryWell Fit.
