October 22, 2024 by Strategic Communication

By July 1, 2025, Missouri State University will have a new provost.

The search for a new provost has begun. Applications for the position opened today (Oct. 22).

The provost and vice president for academic affairs is the university’s chief academic officer. This role provides primary administrative leadership, direction and evaluation for faculty affairs.

Current Provost Dr. John Jasinski has announced his intention to retire on June 30, 2025.

“We’re grateful to Dr. Jasinski for his dedicated service since 2022,” said Missouri State University President Dr. Richard B. Williams.

“His leadership, particularly in guiding the academic realignment, has strengthened our institution and positioned us for continued success.”

Search committee members

Brad Bodenhausen, vice president for community and global partnerships, and Dr. Marjorie Shavers, College of Education associate dean, are the co-chairs of the Provost Search Committee.

The 17-member search committee includes faculty and staff.

Search timeline

The first date of consideration is Dec. 2, 2024. Finalists will be on campus for interviews in February 2025. After that, Williams will select the new provost by March 2025.

Missouri State has set up a provost search website. Individuals can nominate a qualified candidate online by Dec. 2.
