Does timing really matter for pomegranate juice?

Registered dietitian Natalie Allen explains.

January 13, 2026 by Strategic Communication

Is there a best time to drink pomegranate juice?

As registered dietitian Natalie Allen notes in a recent Verywell Health article, drinking acidic juices like pomegranate close to bedtime may worsen heartburn for people prone to reflux. Choosing an earlier time of day may help reduce discomfort.

To reap its benefits, drink it regularly. Consistency matters more than timing.

Allen is also a clinical associate professor of nutrition and dietetics in the School of Health Sciences at Missouri State University.
