Best whole grains for balanced nutrition

Registered dietitian Jaime Gnau highlights several options.

Whole grains aren’t just a source of carbohydrates — many varieties also provide essential protein, fiber and vitamins. 

Registered dietitian Jamie Gnau shares the benefits of whole grains like bulgur, brown rice, quinoa and millet in a recent Martha Stewart article. These grains not only help support heart health and steady energy levels, but they also deliver antioxidants and complete proteins to fuel your day. 

Gnau is also a clinical assistant professor of nutrition and dietetics in the School of Health Sciences at Missouri State University.
