Best protein-packed vegetables

Registered dietitian Natalie Allen highlights several options.

Protein isn’t just found in meat — many vegetables offer a high amount of this essential nutrient. 

Registered dietitian Natalie Allen shares the benefits of protein-rich vegetables like lentils, fava beans and artichokes in a recent Martha Stewart article. These vegetables provide a plant-based protein boost and support overall health with fiber, vitamins and antioxidants. 

Allen is also a clinical associate professor of nutrition and dietetics in the School of Health Sciences at Missouri State University.
