Join Missouri State University in recognizing LGBTQ+ History Month this October.
“When we recognize and honor LGBTQ+ history, we contribute to a more inclusive and just world,” said Shy Wells, assistant director of multicultural programs and LGBTQ+ student services at Missouri State.
“Celebrating LGBTQ+ history isn’t just an act of celebration; it’s also a stand against injustice and discrimination that the LGBTQ+ community face.”
Several events will take place this month.
PRIDE Fair
This year’s PRIDE Fair is at 2 p.m. Oct. 27 at Plaster Student Union (PSU) Ballroom.
The two-hour event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
The fair will give people an opportunity to learn how to be a great ally. There will also be information about organizations at MSU and in the Springfield community that are LGBTQ+ focused.
“We want people to see businesses in the community that support LGBTQ+ individuals through events, talent and opportunities,” Wells said.
