The Missouri State University Board of Governors elected new officers at their meeting on March 24. Virginia Fry was elected chair, and Carrie Tergin was elected vice chair.

This is the first time in school history that both the chair and vice chair of the board are women.

Fry is a partner in Husch Blackwell. She is a member of the firm’s healthcare, life sciences and pharmaceuticals industry team. Fry has a bachelor’s degree and Master of Business Administration from Missouri State University. She has a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law.

Tergin is the mayor of Jefferson City and owner of Carrie’s Hallmark Shop in Jefferson City. She is also an artist and a photographer. Tergin is a graduate of Missouri State University with a degree in business management. She has served on the City Council and boards of numerous civic and charitable organizations.

Steve Foucart, chief financial officer; and Kristan Gochenauer, secretary to the Board of Governors, were elected board treasurer and secretary, respectively, in October.

Changes on board necessitate change in leadership

The mid-year change in leadership occurred due to a change in the membership of the board.

Joe Carmichael was elected chair of the board in October. His term on the board expired in January and his replacement, Craig Frazier, was confirmed today.

Carol Silvey will replace board member Peter Hofherr.
