Governor Eric Greitens announced two new members to the Missouri State University Board of Governors. The new members are Craig Frazier, of Springfield, and Carol Silvey, of West Plains.
Frazier and Silvey will attend their first board meetings in Kansas City March 23-24.
“We’re very pleased to welcome Craig and Carol to the Missouri State Board of Governors,” said Missouri State President Clif Smart. “They will bring fresh energy and new ideas to help the university advance its goals while keeping tuition affordable for Missouri students.”
Frazier brings experience in health care
Frazier has worked in a variety of positions in health care management and the insurance industry for the last 20 years. He is currently a board member of Springfield Innovation Incorporated.
Recent positions include chief operations officer for Healthmedx, vice president of commercial operations for Healthtronics and president of Intuitive Medical Software.
Frazier has a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from Missouri State.
Silvey brings decades of experience in higher education
Silvey is associate director for advancement for Community Foundation of the Ozarks. She also worked at Missouri State-West Plains for 38 years. Silvey was a history instructor from 1968 to 1991 and director of development from 1991 to 2006.
Silvey has a bachelor’s degree in education from Missouri State University and master’s degree in education from the University of Missouri.
“We are excited about the opportunity to work with Carol Silvey as a member of the Board of Governors,” said Missouri State-West Plains Chancellor Drew Bennett.
“Carol has a long and distinguished history with the university, specifically, the West Plains campus. As a result, she understands the unique role this campus plays in our service area as well as the Missouri State University system as a whole. Because of her previous roles as an educator and administrator on our campus, we know she will bring valuable insight to her service on the board.”
New members will replace Carmichael, Hofherr
Frazier will replace Joe Carmichael as the 7th District representative and Silvey will replace Dr. Peter Hofherr as the 8th District representative. The terms of Carmichael and Hofherr expired on Jan. 1.
