Skaggs Foundation supports efforts of public health director

Recently the Ozarks Public Health Institute at Missouri State University, under the direction of Dr. Dalen Duitsman, received three grants from the Skaggs Foundation to support their ongoing work to improve the quality of health in the Ozarks.

Dalen DuitsmanRecently the Ozarks Public Health Institute at Missouri State University, under the direction of Dr. Dalen Duitsman, received three grants from the Skaggs Foundation to support their ongoing work to improve the quality of health in the Ozarks.

  • Skaggs Foundation provided a $13,847.29 grant to assist with the development and evaluation of health and wellness programs supported by Skaggs Foundation’s Legacy Endowment Grants.
  • Original funding from Skaggs Foundation in 2013 has been extended for “SOAR,” a mental health trauma intervention program. The $70,604 grant will help provide training, additional counselors and expand services for those in need.
  • An additional $98,331 was awarded from Skaggs Foundation for “GROW Healthy: Childhood Obesity Intervention” an evidence-based physical education and nutrition curriculum that strives to improve the health and well-being of children and their families in Taney and Stone counties.
