Public affairs conference examines ‘inclusive excellence’

Missouri State University will host the ninth annual Public Affairs Conference, themed “Inclusive Excellence.” The event, which will be held April 9-12 and bring a variety of speakers with global perspectives to Springfield, is free and open to the public.

Speakers scheduled at the conference include: Maura Cullen, diversity speaker and trainer; Freeman Hrabowski, president, University of Maryland, Baltimore County; Charlton McIlwain, associate professor of media, culture and communication, New York University; Dennis Reigle, special projects business adviser, American Institute of CPAs; and Edward St. John, professor, department of educational leadership and policy, University of Michigan.

Among the wide variety of panel discussions are: “Inclusiveness: Is that what made Apple great?” “It’s more than what women want: It’s what society needs,” “Refugees in the United States: Overcoming the Challenges,” “Why does queer = fear?” “Looking inside poverty from the outside,” and many more.
