Faculty receives grant for research, culture of freshwater mussels
The award will be used to fund the Barnhart’s research project issued under the Great Rivers Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU).
Barnhart also received a grant of $12,000 from the Missouri Department of Conservation for his proposal “Host Identification and Propagation of Ebonyshell Mussels (Fusconia ebena).”
The purpose of the project is to continue to identify hosts for propagating and rearing the threatened mussel species as their primary hosts, the skipjack herring, are also in decline.
For more information, contact Barnhart at (417) 836-5166.
