Questions about faith and health have been part of teaching and research at Missouri State University for years.

A recent grant from Interfaith America is helping faculty expand that work beyond individual classrooms and into broader community conversations.

The $60,000 grant was awarded to 15 institutions out of 44 applicants. The grant supports faith and health education at Missouri State, led by an interdisciplinary team of professionals and educators across the university and the greater community.

On this team is Dr. Philippa Koch, an associate professor of religious studies and author of “The Course of God’s Providence: Religion, Health and the Body in Early America.” She shares her background and explains how the grant helps students enter their careers with confidence, ready to understand how religion or faith shapes the lives of the people they serve.
