Forbes has named Missouri State University as one of America’s Best Midsize Employers 2025.
The university ranked No. 65 out of 498 companies across the U.S., as well as second in Missouri and 13th nationally in the education category.
Now in its 10th year, Forbes announced the annual America’s Best Midsize Employers and America’s Best Large Employers lists on Feb. 12. The lists recognize companies that excel in employee satisfaction and workplace culture.
Forbes, in collaboration with market research firm Statista, compiled the rankings. The process involved an independent survey of more than 217,000 U.S. employees from companies with more than 1,000 people. Companies with 1,000 to 5,000 employees were deemed midsize. Missouri State has 3,700-plus employees.
Previously, Missouri State was recognized as a Forbes Best In-State employer four years running from 2020-23.
“This recognition is equally appreciated,” said Scot Scobee, director of the office of human resources.
“While there are many great things about working at Missouri State, there are still opportunities for us to enhance the everyday experiences for our students, faculty and staff. Thank you, Forbes, for recognizing the collective efforts of the Missouri State community.”
What makes a top employer?
For the survey, respondents remained anonymous so they could answer freely. They indicated if they would recommend their employer to others and rated it based on criteria, such as:
- Salary
- Work environment
- Training programs
- Advancement opportunities
The lists have made it easier for job seekers to find top companies to work for throughout the past decade.
