February 12, 2025 by Strategic Communication

Beginning July 1, Dr. David Geurin, a longtime public school administrator and teacher, will become director of Missouri State University’s Greenwood Laboratory School.

He will replace director Ron Snodgrass who retires June 30.

“Dr. Geurin comes to us with more than 25 years of experience as a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent,” said College of Education Dean Dr. Barri Tinkler. “A visionary educational leader with extensive experience in K-12 administration, curriculum development and faculty mentorship, he will help shape the next generation of Greenwood students while strengthening the school’s long-standing traditions of success.”

More about Geurin

Geurin has been the superintendent of the Fair Play R-II School District since July 2022. He led district-wide initiatives that improved academic performance, attendance and college and career readiness. This resulted in a 15% increase in the Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP) 6 annual performance rating.

Previously, he served as Bolivar High School (BHS) principal for 14 years. Under his leadership, which promoted a culture of achievement, BHS gained recognition as a National Blue Ribbon school and Missouri Gold Star school.

Geurin began his education career in 1996 as a teacher and coach at Marshfield High School. He also worked as a principal at Miller High School from 2005-08.

A recognized thought leader, he is the author of “Future Driven: Will Your Students Thrive in An Unpredictable World?” In 2017, the National Association of Secondary School Principals named him the Digital Principal of the Year.

Geurin holds a Bachelor of Science in English and Master of Science in Education Administration from Southwest Baptist University. He received his Doctor of Education (focused in educational leadership and policy analysis) from the University of Missouri in 2008.
