Missouri State launches STEM MBA

A new Master of Business Administration degree in STEM will debut this fall.

March 25, 2024 by Strategic Communication

Master of Business Administration seeking students now have another option to pursue at Missouri State University.

In January, the Board of Governors approved a STEM-focused MBA degree.

The STEM — or science, technology, engineering and mathematics — program has received final approval from the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development and the Higher Learning Commission. It will launch this fall.

“This degree will offer additional career opportunities for our students and complement our recruiting efforts,” said Dr. Elizabeth Rozell, associate dean and director of MBA programs at Missouri State. “The first of its kind at a public institution in Missouri, this will help domestic students expand interest in STEM fields and give more opportunity to international students who wish to work in the United States after graduation.”

Recognized as a STEM-designated program by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the STEM MBA allows a 24-month extension of already approved optional practical training for international students pursuing the degree under an F-1 visa status.

The STEM MBA combines business acumen with technological innovation. The program is designed for forward-thinking individuals who seek to blend their passion for STEM with the strategic leadership skills essential for today’s rapidly evolving business landscape.

Students will take traditional MBA courses, paired with STEM-focused electives, such as cybersecurity and data analytics.

The program can be completed in the same timeframe as a traditional MBA.

About an MSU MBA

Missouri State currently offers a traditional, fully online and accelerated MBA. The program is one of only 10% in U.S. colleges fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the world’s most prestigious accrediting agency for colleges of business administration.
