Getting to know the Nordic diet

RD Jaime Gnau shares a few key things.

May 3, 2023 by Strategic Communication

The Nordic diet is a plant-forward eating pattern that incorporates ingredients native to Nordic countries. It’s rich in foods like berries, root vegetables, whole grains and fish.

Research has shown the diet offers some health benefits like promoting weight loss and reducing risk of chronic diseases. It also encourages seasonal, nutrient-dense foods without excluding any food groups entirely. However, certain ingredients may be expensive or difficult to find for those living outside of Nordic countries.

Registered dietitian Jaime Gnau gives some insights about this diet to Forbes Health. She’s also a clinical instructor of nutrition and dietetics at Missouri State University.
