College Bound expands scholarship opportunities

MSU creates two new scholarships with College Bound.

December 12, 2022 by Strategic Communication

The addition of two new scholarships enables more College Bound participants to pursue a degree at Missouri State University.

Missouri State will hold a signing ceremony with College Bound at 1 p.m. Dec. 14 in Carrington Hall 201 to establish the new scholarships.

“Accessibility to higher education is a shared focus of the university and College Bound program,” MSU President Clif Smart said. “We believe these two new scholarships will encourage more students to further their education at MSU.”

The two new scholarships will be added to the already established Missouri State University/College Bound Scholarship.

New opportunities

MSU will offer these three scholarship programs for College Bound participants:

CB@MSU Scholarship

Two undergraduate students will receive the CB@MSU supplemental scholarship. It covers the cost of:

  • In-state tuition.
  • Student service fees.
  • Course fees.
  • Room and board.

The scholarship will pay for these costs in the fall and spring semesters.

To receive the CB@MSU Scholarship (valued at $5,000 per year), students must:

  • Remain an active member in good standing of College Bound throughout the time of the scholarship.
  • Qualify for admission to MSU and enroll as full-time students.
  • Demonstrate exceptional financial need.

The scholarship can be renewed for three years.

Missouri State University/Transfer Scholarship

Students will be awarded the Missouri State University/Transfer scholarship (valued at $1,000) if they:

  • Are an active member of College Bound on Campus during their attendance at St. Louis Community College and/or Ranken Technical College.
  • Have been an active member of College Bound on Campus for at least one year.
  • Are in good standing with College Bound as of the date of nomination.
  • Are nominated by College Bound.
  • Qualify for admission to MSU and enroll as full-time students.

The scholarship can be renewed for two years.

Missouri State University/College Bound Scholarship

Students who receive the Missouri State University/College Bound Scholarship (valued at $2,000) must:

  • Be an active member of College Bound during their senior year of high school.
  • Have been an active member of College Bound for at least one year.
  • Be in good standing with College Bound as of the date of nomination.
  • Be nominated by College Bound.
  • Qualify for admission to MSU and enroll as full-time students.
  • Have not received another MSU scholarship of greater value.

This scholarship would apply after the MoState Access Scholarship for Pell-eligible students.

The scholarship can be renewed for three years.

First steps

To be considered for any of the scholarships, students must also submit their applications for admission by June 1 for the fall semester and Dec. 1 for the spring semester.

They also need to apply for admission and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before Feb.1
