Sharing HerStory at Missouri State

Attend events on campus to celebrate Women’s History Month

March 10, 2020 by Strategic Communication

Missouri State University celebrates women in March with events highlighting women’s history, or HerStory.

The celebrations provide an opportunity for the campus community and city of Springfield to learn about the rich cultural history of diverse women. You can also engage in dialogue about the contributions women have made across the globe.

Keynote presentation

Tarana Burke, founder of the #MeToo movement, will speak at 6 p.m. March 10 at Juanita K. Hammons Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

A survivor of sexual assault, Burke made it her mission early on to work with young women of color to change their lives.

Burke is senior director at Girls for Gender Equity. She, along with other silence breakers, was named Time’s person of the year in 2017 after #MeToo went viral.
