The Little Review and its cultural influence

History professor Dr. Holly Baggett offers insights on the arts magazine.

March 21, 2019 by Strategic Communication

The Little Review, an arts magazine, was first published 105 years ago this March from the 9th floor of the Fine Arts Building on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, and ran until 1929. Margaret Anderson, a writer and pianist from a wealthy Indiana family, founded the magazine and together with her partner, artist Jane Heap, Anderson helped introduce modernism to the world.

Dr. Holly Baggett, Missouri State University history professor, is writing a biography of the two women. She shares with the Chicago Tribune more about the women and how they made The Little Review such a success.
