Missouri State University seal with tulips

Board of Governors approves tuition, fees for 2018-19

Tuition remains below national average.

April 18, 2018 by Strategic Communication

Missouri State University students will see a modest increase in tuition and fees next year.

Tuition for in-state, undergraduate students will go up by $2 per credit hour on the Springfield campus and $1 per credit hour on the West Plains campus. This is an increase of less than 1 percent.

This decision comes as part of an agreement reached with legislative leaders to restore funding cuts proposed by Governor Eric Greitens.

“As we moved through this budgeting process, we put students first,” said President Clif Smart. “We want to be good stewards of the resources we have. And we remain committed to offering high-quality, affordable education.”

Tuition, fee and housing changes

  • Undergraduate resident tuition for 2018-19 will increase from $210 to $212 per credit hour
  • Graduate students from Missouri will see an increase of $11 per credit hour
  • Undergraduate tuition for out-of-state students will increase $19 per credit hour
  • Graduate student tuition for out-of-state students will increase $22 per credit hour

Student services fees will increase $5 per semester for students enrolled in seven or more credit hours.

The combined room and board increase will not exceed 2.02 percent, while housing rates for Hammons, Hutchens and Scholars will be frozen.

Additional details about tuition and fees can be found in Missouri State’s Fee Schedule.
