Celebrate differences: Women’s HERstory Month

A variety of experiences will be honored this March.

February 26, 2018 by Strategic Communication

Women’s HERstory month is a time to recognize and celebrate all women.

This year’s events on Missouri State University’s campus are centered around women using their voices to tell their stories across time and location.

Matthew Banks, coordinator of multicultural programs/LGBTQ+ student services believes it is important to celebrate Women’s HERstory Month each year because many times, the accomplishments and contributions of women are lost or forgotten.

“Women’s HERstory Month gives us the chance to remember these contributions and make a commitment to promoting the success of women in society,” said Banks, chair of Women’s HERstory planning committee.

Return of Womxn of Distinction Awards

This year, the Womxn of Distinction Awards are returning. These awards recognize one woman or femme-identified individual from each of the following categories:  undergraduate student, graduate student and a faculty or staff member.

The awardees must have a strong impact on Missouri State and the Springfield community. They should also illustrate academic success and be a positive influence.
