New programs bring fresh opportunities for students

Several academic program changes will start at Missouri State for the spring 2017 semester and beyond.

With the New Year’s celebrations over, several academic program changes will start at Missouri State University for the spring 2017 semester and beyond.

Graduate College offers new programsGraduate College students at commencement

New opportunities in the Graduate College include:

  • Master of Science in Agriculture, which includes an accelerated option
  • Graduate certificates in:
    • Hospitality administration
    • Education of the gifted and talented students
    • Elementary curriculum and instruction
    • Environmental monitoring and sampling
    • Statistics and research design

Graduate program renamedWinter campus scene

The Master of Science in Administrative Studies (MSAS) has been renamed the Master of Professional Studies (MPS). This degree includes a set of core courses in leadership and management skills and option areas that are tailored to students’ specific interests. The current option areas are:

  • Applied communication
  • Criminal justice
  • Environmental management
  • Homeland security
  • Hospitality administration
  • Producing and screenwriting
  • Sports management

The Master of Professional Studies also includes an individualized option and a graduate certificate in professional studies.

Another way to go green Students at the campus garden

The university also announced the addition of an undergraduate certificate in environmental education, a 14-16 credit hour program that focuses on broadening knowledge of environmental topics in formal and non-formal education settings.
