Two Missouri State University undergraduate composition students and a professor of music have had their compositions selected for performance at the Society of Composers, Inc. 2015 Region VI conference to be held at Henderson State University in Arkansas, March 6-8, 2015.

Pieces by Dr. Michael F. Murray and his students Tyler Durham and Jeremy Cuebas were chosen after a highly competitive selection process. The Henderson State University Wind Ensemble will play Durham’s concert band composition “Flight of the Monarchs,” and six Missouri State undergraduates will perform Cuebas’ song cycle “Clare Songs” for baritone, clarinet, violin and cello.

“Having my piece selected from 341 submitted works from all over the United States and across all ages is such an incredible honor, and I am so thankful for the opportunity,” said Durham. “It is truly one of the most extraordinary and rewarding experiences to hear an ensemble performing the notes that you put on paper. I could not be more excited about this outstanding honor— to have my music played alongside so many other exceptional composers.”
