The communication department at Missouri State University received the 2015 Outstanding Undergraduate Communication Program Award at the Central States Communication Association (CSCA) conference in Madison, Wisconsin earlier this month.
Dr. Shawn Wahl, communication department head, said the selection process is highly competitive and the award is evidence of the dedication and hard work of the entire communication faculty.
The selection committee was impressed with the overall breadth of the communication curriculum, the partnerships with other organizations, the student organizations and activities available and the quality of the faculty.
“Our Center for Dispute Resolution, the Missouri State debate program, our commitment to general education and the department’s involvement in disciplinary leadership were several factors that also impressed the selection committee,” said Wahl.
The CSCA is an academic organization of communication professionals and consists of 13 states which include top schools in Illinois, Michigan, Kansas and Missouri, among others.
