A love for engineering can begin at any age.
On Feb. 25, Missouri State University will host Discover Engineering Day, an annual community education event geared toward kids in grades K-6.
This is the seventh year Missouri State will be hosting the event for the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers (MPSE).
“This event is fun for anyone, but we hope it will inspire young people to continue to love and work in STEM fields as they age,” Dr. Matthew Pierson, associate professor of engineering, said.
The game plans
The event will take place at the Plaster Center for Free Enterprise in downtown Springfield.
The space will hold many different types of activities and demonstrations, including:
- Creating edible concrete.
- Fun with 3M chemistry.
- Build your own bot.
- Balloon tower.
The details
The Plaster Center for Free Enterprise can be found at 405 N. Jefferson Ave., with parking at 406 N. Boonville Ave.
Attendees can visit any time between noon – 3 p.m.
There is no RSVP required and the event is free to all.
