What types of mosquitoes live in Missouri?

Public health expert Dr. David Claborn is leading a project to find out.

July 24, 2018 by Strategic Communication

There has never been a comprehensive mosquito surveillance project in Missouri until three years ago when a team of researchers from Missouri State University started one, thanks to a contract from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

Led by Dr. David Claborn, master of public health program director at Missouri State, the team traps mosquitoes in the state to determine what types live in Missouri and in what numbers. The research is in its final year and so far, they have captured 35,000 mosquitoes from 31 different species.

Claborn shares more about his research with the Jefferson City News Tribune.
