Thomas Peters named dean of university libraries

Thomas Peters, assistant dean for strategic technology initiatives at the Milner Library at Illinois State University, has been named the new dean of university libraries at Missouri State University. He will begin his duties Aug. 1.

Female students honored for leadership distinction

The annual Missouri State University Women of Distinction award ceremony and reception was held March 29, sponsored by the Gender Studies Committee, to honor this year’s nominees for the prestigious award. Female students were nominated by faculty and staff based on their demonstration of leadership, community service and mentorship of other women.

The Twelfth Annual Springfield/Greene County Choose Environmental Excellence awards were presented April 20 at a luncheon held at the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce as a part of Springfield’s Earth Day festivities. Eleven organizations presented awards this year, including two from Missouri State University.

Gift to benefit Foster Family Recreation Center, intramural program

Missouri State University students will have more to look forward to when the Bill R. Foster and Family Recreation Center opens thanks to a significant gift from Bobby Allison. The $500,000 gift will support the construction of the center and endow a portion of the intramural sports program.

Tent Theatre celebrates its 50th season

The iconic tent has gone up behind Craig Hall on the Missouri State University campus, marking the start of the 50th season of Tent Theatre. Events scheduled from April-July will celebrate the 50th All-Star Season.

Science students showcase research

This event will highlight research in biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, astronomy, materials science, engineering, geography, geology, planning and mathematics.

MSU Doctor of Nursing Practice program approved

The Higher Learning Commission notified Missouri State University that its Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree program was approved. With the March 27 notification, the DNP becomes the third stand-alone doctorate offered by the university.
