Dr. Stephanie Bryant, dean of the College of Business and David D. Glass distinguished leadership chair at Missouri State University, has been elected to the The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) Board of Directors. Bryant will serve a two-year term on the board beginning in July.
“I am very pleased that AACSB has selected Dr. Bryant to its Board of Directors, and I know she is excited to serve in this capacity,” said Missouri State President Clifton M. Smart III. “Dr. Bryant has served incredibly well in a number of important leadership roles at Missouri State University, so I know she will be a great asset for AACSB.”
Bryant adds to her credentials
Bryant joins the 29-member AACSB International Board of Directors as one of seven elected individuals representing U.S. institutions with AACSB accreditation. She also serves as the chair of the AACSB International Accounting Accreditation Committee (AAC) and is a member of the AACSB International Committee on Accreditation Policy (CAP).
“I am honored to serve on the AACSB International Board of Directors,” Bryant said. “AACSB accreditation drives the advancement of quality business education around the world.
“Having spent my career at AACSB institutions as a faculty member, department head and now dean, I appreciate the hard work and dedication involved with achieving and maintaining accreditation. Students at accredited institutions benefit greatly from this process, and it is a joy to see them in turn advance the business community upon graduation.”
The significance of AACSB accreditation
Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by fewer than 5 percent of the world’s business programs. Today, 755 business schools in 51 countries and territories maintain AACSB accreditation.
The College of Business is accredited by AACSB International at all available levels for all programs inside the business unit, which includes the departments of computer information systems, finance and general business, management, marketing and the School of Accountancy, which also holds separate AACSB accreditation.
The departments of merchandising and fashion design and technology and construction management maintain accreditation with other organizations. The College of Business is one of the largest business programs in the Midwest with about 5,300 undergraduate and graduate students.
