Missouri State University named Matt Morris as the new vice president for administrative services. The appointment was approved by the Missouri State University Board of Governors at its November Executive Committee meeting. He will be paid $140,000 annually.
As vice president for administrative services, Morris will serve as the senior executive officer responsible for providing leadership and management to administrative services units, which include environmental management; facilities management; human resources; planning, design and construction; postal services; printing services; and safety and transportation.
Morris holds a Master of Business Administration from Missouri State and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Pittsburg State University. He replaces Ken McClure, who recently retired.
The university also announced that effective Jan. 1, 2016, Jeff Morrissey, chief information officer (CIO), will report directly to President Clif Smart and serve as a member of his administrative council. As head of the university’s computer services unit, he will be paid $120,000 annually.
“I am delighted to have Matt Morris as the head of the administrative services staff,” said Smart. “The wealth of experience and knowledge he brings will serve Missouri State well for many years. In addition, I am excited about elevating Jeff Morrissey to a position with campus-wide importance and profile.”
Morris served as interim and associate vice president since February 2012. In that capacity, he supervised selected areas of administrative and information services. He also had responsibility for all of the administrative and information services budgets, the university’s capital appropriations and expenditures, and liaison responsibilities for the neighborhood associations with whom the university has contact.
Morris also worked as director of business and support services at Missouri State-West Plains from 2006-12 and in several positions in residence life and services on the Springfield campus from 1999-2006.
Morrissey was named CIO in December 2008. Prior to that, he served as the director of computer services and was responsible for the planning, management, security and coordination of computer resources at Missouri State.
