Faculty member to present about the songs of Sergius Kagen
With the support of a COAL New Faculty Fellowship grant, voice faculty member Dr. Ann Marie Wilcox-Daehn investigated the songs of Sergius Kagen and was recently accepted to present that research at a poster session for the national convention of the National Association of Teachers of Singing in Boston this summer.
Sergius Kagen was an author, editor, reviewer, pianist and Juilliard professor well known for his contributions to critical music editions singers use daily but lesser known for his compositions. The songs feature such poets as Dickinson, Blake, Teasdale, Joyce and Sandburg.
Wilcox-Daehn will present her research and along with songs by Kagen at a lecture recital at 3 p.m. Feb. 9 in Ellis Recital Hall.
