Missouri State organization makes impact on community with new service project
The Enactus Team at Missouri State University recently met with representatives of Mondelez International, parent company of Oreo, RITZ, Trident, and many other popular brands. The MSU team shared its ideas on an upcoming project and gave a tour of the project site, Harmony House.
“This event was powerful for the Mondelez representatives and our Enactus members,” said Debra Horn, MSU’s Enactus project leader. “It was very moving to see the group discussion turn to passion for addressing problems in the community. We connected during our visit to Harmony House and talked about how to have a meaningful impact.”
Harmony House is a non-profit organization based in the Springfield community that provides assistance for survivors of domestic abuse. MSU Enactus Team members plan to provide job search assistance and educational support for this organization.
To fund their efforts for this project, Enactus applied for project partnership grants. The team received several earlier this week, including the Wal-Mart Women’s Economic Empowerment Project, Sam’s Club Step up for Small Business and Campbell’s Lets Can Hunger grants. The award amounts came to a total of $3,300 in aid for the team’s upcoming projects.
