Publications office designers receive awards of excellence
The first impression of a university often comes from a publication, and Missouri State University’s office of publications was recently recognized by the University and College Designers Association (UCDA) with Awards of Excellence.
Graphic designer Teri Poindexter’s redesign of the university’s “Campus Visit Packet” was recognized in the Best Redesign category. The custom packet contains information essential to prospective students who are visiting the campus.
“I would say that Teri’s thoughtful design of the visit packet ensures that students new to Missouri State are able to immediately feel the connection to campus and excitement about becoming a Bear,” said Stacey Funderburk, office of publications director.
Poindexter worked with Michelle Rose, publications writer/editor, who wrote the packet’s content, as well as members of the office of admissions to ensure that all necessary information was included.
Aimee Pong, a recent graduate of Missouri State’s graphic design program, was also recognized by UCDA for the illustrations she provided for Missouri State Magazine’s “Bears Share How-To.” Pong worked in the publications office for about two years and was consistently committed to producing the best work possible, according to Funderburk.
The cover for the magazine consisted of a “Rube Goldberg” type image, where one action results in another and so forth in a cycle.
“Throughout her work as a graphic designer, we have always been ‘wowed’ by her ability to think outside the box and create works that are extremely attractive and clearly communicate the messages of Missouri State,” added Funderburk.
