Professor receives grant for advanced education nursing traineeship
Dr. Kathryn Hope, nursing department head at Missouri State University, recently received a renewal grant of $152,746 from the Health Resources and Services Administration branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for the advanced education nursing traineeship program.
“The traineeship provides tuition, fees and stipend support for full-time family nurse practitioner students in the Master of Science in Nursing program,” Hope said.
The purpose of this program is to assist students in maintaining full-time status in the program and to graduate sooner. In doing this, the program will help increase the number of primary care providers.
“This program helps support students so they can focus on school, as opposed to having to work a full-time job and manage family responsibilities. The support has allowed many students to stay full-time students,” said Hope.
