Center receives regional award for excellence, innovation
The Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) at Missouri State University was selected to receive the Region VII Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Award. The center will officially receive the award during National Small Business Week this June.
The SBTDC – which recently moved into the Plaster Center for Free Enterprise and Business Development (part of IDEA Commons) – has set record-level economic impact and has received many awards including Missouri’s first Star Performer Award and Excellence Award for outstanding effort in Small Business Advocacy among others. They also developed a series of innovative seminars on financial education for small business owners that became premiere programs for the entire Missouri SBTDC system.
Through the SBTDC, business owners and managers can receive up-to-date, individualized resources including consulting, training programs, business planning, financial analysis reports, marketing research and planning, management assessments, feasibility studies, loan proposals and preparation.
The SBTDC was selected as from nominees throughout Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa. Their nomination package was submitted by Allen Kunkel, director of the Jordan Valley Innovation Center.
Rayanna Anderson, director of the SBTDC, said she is also proud to have nominated a client of the SBTDC, Thomas Douglas of JMARK Business Solutions, Inc., who has won the Missouri Small Business Person of the Year Award. Douglas will move on to compete for the national award.
