Professor publishes book on Springfield history
Dr. Stephen McIntyre, professor of history, published “Springfield’s Urban Histories: Essays on the Queen City of the Missouri Ozarks,” a collection of 11 scholarly articles written by Missouri State University professors and students. The book provides a never-before-seen peek into the development of Springfield.
The book captures the complex history of the Springfield area and highlights such significant events as the Battle of Springfield, the Hickock-Tutt gunfight, the emergence of lesbian and gay communities during World War II and the impact of African-American inventor Walter Majors.
