Faculty receives grant for education research initiative

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Dr. Dennis Kear, professor and director of the Institute for School Improvement, received a grant of $104,233 from Southwest Missouri school districts for the Ozarks Educational Research Initiative (OERI).

“The Ozarks Educational Research Initiative (OERI) is a collaboration of 15 school districts, plus Greenwood Laboratory School, to conduct research that will inform and improve K-12 education,” said Kear. “The research projects are facilitated by the staff of the College of Education’s Institute for School Improvement and selected faculty. The current project involves studying the impact of a one-to-one technology initiative on K-12 students, teachers and schools.”

Each school in the district understands the importance of teaching today’s learners to use the tools of the 21stcentury. Increasing technology literacy and advancing student achievement are the primary goals of the initiative.
