History conference session to air on C-SPAN
A conference session about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, which was taped at the Mid-America Conference on History, will air on C-SPAN 3 at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18 as part of American History TV. The session will be paired with a portion of a 1964 CBS News special on the Kennedy assassination and Warren Commission Report for the episode, “The Presidency: The Assassination of President Kennedy.”
The conference session, entitled “What We Now Know About the Kennedy Assassination,” featured a panel of Kennedy experts: Gerald McKnight from Hood College, David Kaiser from Naval War College, David Wrone from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Max Holland, leading producer National Geographical Channel documentary “JFK: The Lost Bullet.” These historians discussed the numerous theories that surround the 1963 assassination.
The Mid-America Conference on History was held in Springfield, Mo., Sept. 20-22. Missouri State University originated the Mid-America Conference on History in 1977. It is now an annual event co-sponsored by the departments of history at Missouri State University, Oklahoma State University, the University of Arkansas and the University of Oklahoma.
