Professor elected to ACDFA’s board of directors
Ruth Barnes, associate professor and coordinator of the BFA dance program at Missouri State University, was elected to the American College Dance Festival Association’s (ACDFA) board of directors. On July 1, Barnes began her three-year term as one of the representatives from the central region.
“Being on the American College Dance Festival Association board gives me the opportunity to contribute to the national dance community in a meaningful way,” said Barnes. “The impact of ACDFA’s activities is substantial in reinforcing the missions of college dance programs throughout the United States. I am also thrilled to increase the national visibility of the Missouri State University BFA dance program.”
Prior to her appointment to the board of directors, Barnes served as the coordinator of the Central Region Conference, which was held in March at Missouri State University. The central region’s membership consists of universities in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
According to ACDFA’s mission statement, the organization “acts as a national membership service organization to strengthen the educational network for students and faculty within the academic dance community.”
