Missouri Mentoring Partnership receives funding to continue programs
Alissa Jecklin, grant project director in Missouri State University’s School of Social Work, received a grant of $131,767.77 from the Missouri Department of Social Work to continue funding the Missouri Mentoring Partnership (MMP).
The Missouri Mentoring Partnership assists young adults and parents under the age of 21 aging out of foster care by helping them to achieve self-sufficiency by providing positive experiences and opportunities. The partnership works under two basic components: worksite mentoring and young parent mentoring.
The worksite program works to equip young people with the tools necessary to become self-supporting through employment experiences guided by a mentor. The young parent program matches young parents with a mentor to develop effective parenting skills and support and encouragement to take care of themselves and their children.
