Nursing department holds healthcare reform discussion
The Missouri State University nursing department graduate program will host a panel discussion and community forum, Healthcare Reform and Healthcare Providers, from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28. The forum will be held at The Library Center auditorium, 4653 S. Campbell.
“We plan to discuss healthcare reform as proposed by Obama’s administration, how that will impact nurse practitioners, the nursing profession and Missourians as a whole,” said Danita Todd, a Missouri State University graduate student. “It’s our hope that those who come to the event will learn how the proposed plan will affect providers such as nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses and the community.” Planned questions range in topic from the healthcare system, to education, to what will happen in the future.
Panelists for the event include:
- Dr. Kathryn Hope, Missouri State University nursing department head
- Nancy Dion, clinical coordinator, Missouri State University, department of physician assistant studies
- Ashley Kubic, nurse practitioner, St. John’s Pulmonary and Sleep Lab
- Carmen Parker-Bradshaw, executive commissioner, Springfield Health Department
- Dr. Susan Berg, director of nurse practitioner program, Missouri State University
- Dr. Janie Vestal, Kitchen Clinic
- Janice Jones, President of APNO (Advanced Practice Nursing of the Ozarks).
